ehem is an upcoming romantic drama that centres around the theme of paranoia in relationships. Written by Imran Nazir, produced by Moomal Shunaid, directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi, the play is set to release soon. Starring Kinza Hashmi and Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz, the teasers released thus far are promising.
The first teaser released has almost no dialogue aside from a woman wailing. It has a tense and sombre atmosphere, which is further exaggerated through the choice of serious background music. It serves as an introduction for the main characters as we see Eshal (played by Kinza Hashmi) and some family members in rapidly shifting scenes. The teaser has an ominous tone overall as a lot of characters appear to be in distress.
The second teaser furthers the mysterious elements of this play. It portrays a funeral where a woman yells, “This is all your fault!” The tone continues to be ominous and serious, as we see conflict arising between the characters in the snippets being showcased.
The final teaser establishes the romantic angle of the story. We see Eshal and Zaviyar’s characters interacting with one another. Eshal proclaims that she cannot imagine living her life without him, while later on in the teaser, her love interest stands up to a family member for meddling in his relationship. The background music is set to a soft, mournful song and the overall tone is less ominous now, but still remains serious and a little sad. We see Eshal and Zaviyar sitting together, seemingly as a couple, but they do not look happy.
As far as trailers go, Wehem has done a good job of establishing a peculiar and mysterious atmosphere in order to set itself apart from being just another romantic play.
As far as trailers go, Wehem has done a good job of establishing a peculiar and mysterious atmosphere in order to set itself apart from being just another romantic play. There is clear conflict between the characters, and the actors seem to be doing a good job with their portrayals so far. Kinza Hashmi has established herself as a decent actor through her roles in Mohlat and Azmaish, while Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz has previously played roles in Qissa Meherbano Ka and Sang-i-Mah. By local industry standards, the two main actors can be considered newcomers, but their work has been interesting so far.
Wehem is slated to release soon, and based on the comments on these teasers, people are looking forward to it.
