Instep gives you the lowdown on some of our favourite looks.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) have been serving as a precursor to the Academy Awards for the past 75 years, which means we are getting closer to the Oscars. After 2021’s hybrid and socially-distanced BAFTAs, this year the award ceremony was back in all its glory, where we witnessed some of our favourite celebrities make their way to the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The event always boasts some of the best and glamorous looks and this year was no different as A-listers were seen flaunting a mix of custom-made looks and straight-off-the-runway attires.
Clad in stunning gowns and glittering diamonds, stars literally shone on the red carpet. As always, there was plenty of fashion to take in from the night as celebs made head-turning statements. While there was plenty of taffeta and tulle, it seemed like velvet was a popular choice at this year’s awards. And then there were the men that looked uber dapper in their suits.
Here’s our list of stars who graced the red carpet of BAFTAs 2022 with their immaculate style.
Lady Gaga
Best actress nominee and the leading lady of the House of Gucci, Lady Gaga chose to wear a custom Ralph Lauren emerald green gown which according to the brand took 150 hours to make. She accessorized her look with a diamond and emerald Tiffany & Co. archival necklace and matching earrings. Lady Gaga exuded old Hollywood glamour and we can’t get enough of her.
Salma Hayek
Actress Salma Hayek went with a deep purple velvet gown with gothic mesh by Gucci. The Mexican-American actress looked nothing short of sensational in the figure-hugging silhouette which she paired with Boucheron jewelry. Hayek finished her show stopping number with black heels which matched her manicure. She wore her brunette tresses up in a slicked back bun and looked absolutely alluring.
Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell wore a black velvet Burberry gown with dramatic sleeves, turning the BAFTAs red carpet into her personal fashion runway. The 51-year-old supermodel looked effortless adding hints of green with Fawaz Gruosi jewelry. While she sported sleek straight hair with her makeup, Campbell nailed a classic glam look and went with a soft pink palette.
Emma Watson
The Harry Potter actress wore a festive Oscar de la Renta gown featuring a velvet halter top and white tulle skirt. She accessorized her outfit with ankle-strap heels and shoulder-grazing earrings but it was her great brushed-up eyebrows and sun-kissed makeup that stole the show. Not to forget, Emma’s flyaways were secured with a handful of black bobby pins along her centre parting and she left the rest of her tresses loose.
Emilia Jones
What better way to stand out on the red carpet than in a shimmering gold gown? Nominated in the leading actress category, Emilia Jones chose a gold lame pleated Atelier Versace halter gown. The 20-year-old actress paired her shimmering gown with a pair of coordinating gold heels, while she added delicate gold jewelry to keep the focus on her gown. Jones opted for smoky eyes with peachy lips and her hair was styled into an elegant updo with a few strands left loose to gently frame her face.
