Even though the weather is still chilly in most parts of the country, we’re all set to shake off those winter vibes and dive straight into the spring hair and makeup trends. Yes, spring is just around the corner. It’s that exciting time of the year when you want a fresh take on your makeup bag as well as update your hairstyle. It is a time when winter trends transition into something lighter and perkier, and we couldn’t be happier.
In a bid to know more about the latest makeup looks, we got in touch with celebrity hair and makeup artist Beenish Parvez. She has been in the beauty field for the past 18 years and has created stunning hair and makeup looks for actress Mansha Pasha, Ushna Shah and Navin Waqar, amongst many others. “I initially started with hairstyling due to passion for creating different hair looks. To be honest, it’s my dream profession. However, I transitioned into makeup after almost four years of doing hairstyling and being an educator for Wella. I realized that makeup is also essential, so I went for various makeup training.”
Beenish Parvez further went on to say that as a hair and makeup artist, it is important to understand the latest fashion and beauty trends, when to wear what and how to accessorize, etc. “The best part of being in this field is that you get to meet so many different people, and the fact that you can touch so many lives by enhancing their looks actually inspires me. The amazing feeling I get when I change somebody’s look and their perception of looking at themselves in the mirror is something that keeps me going.”
As far as must-have makeup and hair looks are concerned, buckle up as you can make a fresh spring start by following expert advice from Beenish.
Makeup and hair trends to look out for...
“This spring season is all about dewy skin, which looks fresh and natural,” shares Beenish. “Moreover winged eyeliner, voluminous mascara and plump and juicy lips will be all the rage.”
As for hairstyles and haircuts that will be popular, the expert says, “Bobs and lobs have been in vogue for a while now, and the trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. So, look out for bobs with center parting, mid-length layers, and ponytail extensions.” In terms of hair colours, Beenish reveals that natural gold, caramel, and honey hues are trending these days.
All about cheeks, lips and nails…
According to the beautician, if you want to add a pop of colour to your cheeks, then opt for cream blushes and tints. They give a glowy flush compared to powder blushes that can look splotchy.
When it comes to trending lip colours, nudes, brown, earthy tones and peach hues are the way to go. “If you want to be on-trend this spring season, make sure to add lots of gloss to your lip colour, and voila, you are good to go,” says Beenish.
She continues, “Meanwhile, nail colours will be focused on powdery pastels, some funky neon shades as well as the ever-classy French manicure, which looks timeless.”
5 must-have makeup
products
“Well, it could be anything – it varies from person to person. However, I feel that lip and cheek tint, eyebrow pencil, bb cream, lip gloss and mascara are the 5 makeup essentials that women should carry in their bags at all times,” suggests Beenish.
Beenish’s tips on dressing for work
The hair and makeup expert advises going for a very basic and classy look for work. “Keep in mind that it can’t be too funky or over the top. Also, a no-makeup look with a bit of variation of eyeliner and a nice lip colour looks presentable,” she shares. Beenish adds that hair should not be messy – in fact, a nice blow-dry, or neatly tied hairdo looks stylish yet sophisticated for a workplace.
How to dress for a formal
occasion?
Dressing for formal dinners, according to the beautician, can be very trendy and fun at the same time. “You can either go for a flashy shirt or a basic button-down shirt with denim and rock it with some statement accessories. The best part is that you can play around with your hair and makeup by opting for different lip colours or funky eye shadows. As for hair, you can experiment with fun style like curls or a lovely updo,” she elaborates.
Trends that are big a no no
On a parting note, we asked Beenish what makeup trends make her cringe? “In my opinion, the cakey foundation looks way too fake. The more natural and subtle your foundation, the better. Putting on layers and layers doesn’t look flattering, so it is a no-go area. Apart from that, heavy, dramatic lashes and putting on a kohl pencil are a big no no,” she concludes.
