It was in February last year that the first Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) took place in Dubai at the grand Coca Cola Arena. The good news is that the awards ceremony is set to return with its second edition, PISA’21, with the awards honouring the country’s most celebrated artists from the entertainment, fashion and music industries.
The announcement was recently made by Faisal Khan, founder of the Pakistan International Screen Awards and CEO Mesmerize Events, who shared that Dubai will be hosting the 2nd annual PISA’21 on November 5, 2021 at Madinat Jumeirah, soon after the UAE opens up to tourism.
“We intend to make PISA an annual event, honouring our commitment to celebrating Pakistan’s top talent on an international platform. This past one year has been extremely challenging for the artist community and entertainment industries across the world, including Pakistan, who have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. We will be hosting a grand show, dedicated to those who worked tirelessly through this time, and we hope to set a tradition that will only elevate Pakistan further,” stated Faisal Khan via a press statement.
He further added that this year’s Pakistan International Screen Awards will strictly adhere to all Covid-19 SOPs so that the attendees can feel safe and enjoy the event to the fullest.
Last year, the first Pakistan International Screen Awards caused quite a stir when the awards ceremony fell prey to controversy. In fact, a number of nominees and winners couldn’t make it to the event due to mismanagement. Though the organisers apologized and claimed that PISA was “a new platform with teething issues”, we certainly hope that the second annual PISA’21 is bigger and better as promised and that the event won’t be as disorganized as last year’s.
The details regarding this year’s nominations, jury, as well as performances have not been announced as yet.
