VJ turned actress Madiha Imam has a number of notable projects to her name, including Mera Rab Waris, Baba Jani, Dushman e Jaan and the recently concluded Muqaddar among many others. The actress who plays the lead role in Zee5 web series Ek Jhoothi Love Story, directed by Mehreen Jabbar, is getting rave reviews for essaying the character of Salma. Apart from this, Madiha Imam is gearing up for her next drama serial and will soon make her big screen debut in Pakistan alongside Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan.

I am a home body. So for someone who has been a VJ on MTV and now an actor, it appears that I have a glamorous, outgoing and fun loving personality but I am the completely opposite of that.

Thoughts on love

I think for me love is something which is just another name for prioritising and valuing someone out of a very selfless place, out of something which is unconditional and genuine.

You are passionate about?

I am passionate about my work, my art form. I thoroughly enjoy performing arts and I’m also passionate about writing and translating my thoughts into words.

Best director?

I have worked with some great directors but I had an amazing time working with Mehreen Jabbar, Ali Faizan and Dear Maya’s director, Sunaina Bhatnagar.

The most embarrassing thing in your closet?

I won’t call it embarrassing but have a leather jacket with a lot of badges on it. I’ve had it for the longest time and I can’t wear it because it looks funny but it has a lot of sentimental value.

Weirdest thing you have heard about yourself?

The media has been really kind to me. However, I gave an interview where I shared that I paid the fee of a particular institute myself. Later when I came across that interview they had completely misinterpreted what I had said and wrote that my parents were unable to afford the fee, which was not true.

Best thing you have heard about yourself?

When I hear people say ‘her character was a departure from who she is in real life’, that for an actor is the best thing.

In your friends circle you are called?

Maddo in my friends circle and my family calls me Maddi.

What scares you the most?

I have height phobia, but I don’t mind trying it once in a while.

An actor you look up to and would love to work with?

That has to be Samiya Mumtaz. She is an amazing actress and if I get the chance I would love to work with her.

TV or Films?

I prefer a good project, whether it is TV or film.
