A variety of street food makes for delightful wintry snacks
Think winters, and you can’t not think about the food that typically comes with the season. From a variety of nuts to dry-roasted cob corns and smoked sweet potatoes served with tangy citrus and a sprinkling of chaat masala, that make for on-the-go street snacks, to steaming hot platters of fish offered with oven-fresh naans that would satiate you for the rest of the day, and blobs of gulab jamans dipped in caramel to satisfy your sweet cravings… the wintry delights are aplenty. In the old neighbourhoods of Lahore, garam aanday (boiled eggs) remain another popular item throughout the season. Evening chai isn’t complete without people snacking on samosas that are often prepared live at roadside dhabas.
