Laal Kabootar wins big at TSAFF 2019
Kamal Khan’s cinematic debut as director, Laal Kabootar, featuring Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha in lead roles, was screened at the 14th Tasveer South Asian Film Festival 2019 (TSAFF), where it won the Best Feature Film Award as part of the TSAFF Archana Soy Audience Choice Awards. At the festival, which is the largest South Asian film festival in the United States, actor Ahmed Ali Akbar and producer of the film, Kamil Chima were in attendance.
Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha premieres at Busan 2019
Actor and director Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha (Circus of Life), which stars Arif Hassan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman and Ali Kureshi in pivotal roles, had its world premiere at the recently concluded Busan International Film Festival 2019 held in South Korea. The movie was also nominated for the prestigious Kim Ji-seok Award alongside eight other entries from Iran, India and China.
Mehwish Hayat becomes Goodwill Ambassador for Girl Child Rights
Last week, Pakistan’s most sought after actress Mehwish Hayat was appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for ‘the rights of the girl child’ by Pakistan’s Ministry of Human Rights. Mehwish took to Twitter to announce the news just a day before the International Day of the Girl Child, which is observed on October 11, 2019. "This is something close to me and I look forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed. Let’s give girls the better future they deserve," read her tweet.
