Roger Federer
Watching Roger Federer play is like watching poetry in motion. So, it isn’t surprising that the Gentleman’s Singles Final in which Federer had to face Novak Djokovic – another champion who ultimately won but not without a fierce 5-setter - had many stars and former players such as the great Rod Laver in attendance. Serena Williams was defeated as well but given how rarely that happens, she will bounce back come the hard court season.
Claire Foy
Emmy-award winning star of The Crown, Claire Foy was present during the 10th day of Wimbledon, when the semi-finals were played. After two seasons on The Crown, Claire Foy has moved on to other acting projects including The First Man and the upcoming The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Wimbledon 2019 also counted in attendance Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, Damian Lewis, Hugh Grant, Singer-songwriter Leona Lewis, Woody Harrelson, Pharell Williams, Tessa Thompson, David Beckham and longtime RF family friend, Anna Wintour.
Jude Law
Jude Law, starring as a young Dumbledore in the J.K Rowling franchise film, Fantastic Beasts that arrives as a prequel to the Harry Potter films, was seen during the Men’s Semi-Finals between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, with the former prevailing over the latter after 11 years. Law was wearing a Navy blue suit with a white shirt and tie and had the company of his wife, Phillipa.
The Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex
Kate Middleton loves tennis. She didn’t just come out for the Gentleman’s Singles Final but attended a number of matches. Among them was the Women’s Singles Final where she was joined by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who was cheering for her friend (and one of the greatest tennis players in the world), Serena Williams. Kate opted for a green Dolce & Gabbana dress and Meghan went with a Hugo Boss skirt and a white collared top to finish off her look.
Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch
They don’t call Roger Federer the greatest of all-time (GOAT) without reason. At 37 years of age, he made his way to the final and lost but came close to winning. The margin of error was small. Fans of Federer, British actors Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch also came out for the Gentleman’s Singles Final, both impeccably sporting suit and tie. Both Hiddleston and Cumberbatch have upcoming projects lined up with Hiddleston starring as Loki from Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new series for Disney Plus while Cumberbatch is essaying Thomas Edison in a new biopic.
