The award-winning couturier Shehla Chatoor, who made her solo debut last year with her collection, Nur E Alaleh, recently unveiled her new bridal collection, Aks, in a solo outing.
Known for reconstructing vintage art forms to create the finest of handcrafted ensembles, Shehla Chatoor‘s latest collection reflects upon the old world glamour. The colour palette includes ivory, pink, deep maroon and the classic combination of black and gold embellished with exquisite mirror work, Swarovski crystals and gota.
While the collection is stunning, one couldn’t help but spot a number of gorgeous, summer glam beauty looks that were specifically created for the show by Nabila’s creative team.
Here are five significant trends we picked up on…
Dewy, tan skin
One of the biggest trends this season is summer glam makeup, which is super-glossy, dewy skin with bronzed cheeks, neutral lips and well-defined eyes. And this is exactly what we witnessed at the show. Models sashayed down the runway with dewy yet perfectly contoured airbrushed tan skin that gave off a subtle glow and youthful appeal. When we talk about summer glam makeup, one thing is for sure that it looks amazing whether you’re dressing up for a festive occasion or a casual night out. Be it fashion shows or red carpets, flawless dewy skin is one trend that is still going strong for quite some time now.
Textured floral up-do
Up-dos are fun to wear on special occasions. They instantly glam up your look and help you feel more dressed up than on a typical night out. For some parts of the show, Nabila and her team opted for soft, textured floral up-do adorned with hair accessories such as heavy matha pattis, jhoomars and teekas that definitely gave off a regal vibe. With roses adding an extra oomph, this is definitely a trendy take on the classic ’80s hairstyle.
Smokey eyes and pink pouts
For decades, smokey eye makeup has been embraced and utilized for those moments we need to give our faces some sultry oomph. A smokey eye looks fresh when a dash of metallic shade is added in the inner corner of the eye to the centre of the lid. The makeup artists found a way to make the classic look innovative by using metallic eye shadows merged with black. The eye shadow and liner were meticulously blended until it was hazy and glam. The look was finished with lightly stained pink lips - another beauty trend that we spotted. The models flaunted elaborate bridal outfits with well-defined eyes and lip shades in pretty pinks.
Braided hair-dos
This season is all about braids. Different kinds of plaits are back with a vengeance. At the solo show one saw a different take on braids. The models came down the runway with their hair in a combination of French braid that ended either in a messy bun or a braided bun. Adding braid creates a lot more texture and dimension to a standard bun, giving that effortlessly chic yet fun twist to the hair-do.
Retro waves
Nabila and her team let different hair styles take the sartorial centre stage. For some parts of the show, they coiffured retro waves; one of the most adored beauty hair trends of 2019. Those who love to let their hair loose then opt for retro waves. The best part is that waves look flattering on any hair length.
