Actors we look forward to seeing on the silver screen in 2019

The Pakistani film industry has seen its fair share of successes in the last decade, which has truly made the ‘revival’ of cinema in the country a reality. However, bigger than the releases of such films, have been the actors of the industry who have proven their might, one film after another. Now, adding onto the list, are all the fresh faces, young blood and the beloved, who are aiming to bring more limelight to the industry.

Exploring such actors who are all set to bring their acting skill-set to the cinemas, Instep takes a close look at 6 names that we are looking forward to seeing on the silver screen…

Zara Noor Abbas

With two upcoming films under her belt, Zara Noor Abbas is one of the biggest breakout stars 2019 has had to offer. She is all set to star in Parey Hut Love and Chhalawa. The actor, who comes from a prestigious lineage of actors like her aunt Bushra Ansari and her mother, Asma Abbas, can be expected to bring in a powerhouse of talent as she grows from being just another supporting character to becoming a central figure in the upcoming films. However, will she be able to create her footing in front of two mainstream actors who already have successful films to their name? That’s a task – we’ll have to wait and see – for her to conquer.

Osman Khalid Butt

After making his mainstream film debut two years ago with Balu Mahi, Osman Khalid Butt has taken his fair share of a sabbatical from acting in a major film. However, with Saqib Malik’s Baaji - The Film all set to release this year, the actor seems to be ready to showcase his trove of talent on the silver screen.

Seen in the teaser as a glamorous part of the film industry, his role veers away from the romantic hero we saw him his last as, and that definitely is something to look forward to from the talented actor. Plus, the fact that Osman has also shown his dance moves in the film, adds onto his magic that one would want to see.

Iman Ali

Amongst the many big names of the Pakistani media industry in the last two decades, Iman Ali has been one whose star has constantly soared upwards. Whether it has been her career in modeling or her films, she’s been a force to reckon with. Thus, with her making a comeback with Tich Button to the silver screen after Mah-e-Mir, it’s surely something many are looking forward to. Can one expect her to bring the magic she brought to the cinema screens with Khuda Kay Liye and Bol? We believe she just might.

Fawad Khan

Making his debut in a Pakistani film more than a decade ago with Khuda Kay Liye, Fawad Khan has gone from one success to another with his acting repertoire in Bollywood hits like Khoobsurat and Kapoor & Sons. However, on the Pakistani forefront, the actor is yet to come into the limelight with a protagonist’s role. Thus, with the release of The Legend of Maula Jatt slated for this year where the actor plays the eponymous character alongside Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, and Hamza Ali Abbasi, it’s a sure sign that the actor’s fans are in for a thrilling ride this Eid. Additionally, this is the first time one gets to see Fawad veer away from his typical roles, which is definitely something to look forward to.

Meera

One of the most-awaited returns of the silver screen definitely has to be the biggest star of Lollywood, Meera, starring in the revived Pakistani film industry’s Baaji - The Film with one of her favourite directors, Saqib Malik. Exploring the life of a female actor whose success and failures are charted, the film will largely put Meera in the limelight, which is perfectly befitting of the type of return she deserves. Will the actor that be able to bring her signature acting skill-set and glamour back to Pakistani cinemas? That’s one thing all her fans and critics alike, are looking forward to.

Feroze Khan

Although his debut on the big screen alongside Sajal Aly failed to create waves amongst his then-few fans, Feroze Khan’s mega rise to stardom will surely make his upcoming part in Tich Button one that his fans won’t be able to have enough of. Adding to his acting prowess - which he has proved time and again with drama serials like Khaani and Dil Kya Karay - the actor can definitely give tough competition to many big names of the industry.

Now, one just has to wait and watch!
