As the Spring set of fashion weeks commenced with FPW Spring/Summer 2019 this month, it proved that the runway has become an apt way of staying up-to-date with not just fashion, but beauty trends as well. It is through these shows that our forward-looking stylists make sure to bring out the best of their runway looks onto the ramps, season after season. Thus, when this year’s FPW Spring/Summer showcased three days of varied collections ranging from casual pret to bridal, and introduced Samiya Ansari as their new addition in a bid to bring new blood to the event, it proved to be a major success.
Regarding this, Instep spoke to the stylist, who shared some of the looks that she conjured up at the fashion showcase.
Summery looks
Be it on the runway or red carpet, flawless dewy skin has definitely taken center stage. "We went with light and fresh eyes with lighter consistency of foundation," shared Samiya and added that since it was spring/summer 2019, the emphasis was kept on dewy summer looks.
Light and dewy
Talking about Sana Safinaz’s solo show, Samiya told Instep that she personally enjoyed conjuring up a distinct look for their collection, Message from the East. "For the show, we opted for light and dewy makeup, with a simple thick eye-liner and nude pink lips with a dab of glossiness. As far as hairdos were concerned, they were loosely tied up and pulled back hair were one of the dominant features in all the looks, whereas others were simple, wavy, beach hair."
Pops of colour
According to Samiya, the third day was bridal which required a heavier look. "Though bridal segments call for a slightly heavier look, I opted for lighter and nude lips and some pops of bright pinks and oranges so we could present a summer bridal look rather than going for the usual maroon or red lips."
Coloured eye-liner
The second day presented a colourful designer ensemble comprising Generation, Yasmin Zaman, Nauman Arfeen, Gul Ahmed, Alkaram, Obaid Sheikh, Boheme by Kanwal, and Sania Maskatiya. "For day two we experimented with some teal-coloured eyeliners and a light brown hue close to nude creased eye," told Samiya.
Light contouring
"This time we decided on lighter contour technique as summer time really doesn’t require sharp and deep contours. We focused on a dewy and fresh look followed by a face hydrating facial spray - which is the key to a fresh and dewy look."
Samiya’s favourites
Of all the looks she created for the various designers, Samiya said that it was interesting styling for No Nonsense Nighat by Generation. "They provided us with parandas and self made pink flowers that we incorporated in the hairstyles. Apart from that we coiffured these tribal, braided up-dos ourselves for Nomi Ansari’s Kaleidoscope, which was really challenging yet satisfying as the hair looked extravagant and tribal all at once on the ramp," she shared, adding that her personal favourite has got to be a tie between No Nonsense Nighat by Generation and Sana Safinaz’s Message from the East. "Both looks were beautiful, quirky and true to our Pakistani aesthetics!"
