When everything seems to have fallen in place one by one

Editorial

2018 comes to an end with the realisation that everything is hunky dory in a country that is otherwise considered problematic. From the realm of foreign affairs to the state of the economy, everything seems to be falling in place one by one. To begin with, the year set the first example of bringing all the rightful stakeholders of the state on the same page, something no leader in the past could ever dream of. With one wrong righted, the country’s fate is writ large and bright on that one page.

We stand united in a brand new Pakistan; not to be cowed down by the western countries’ agenda-driven reports about Pakistan’s bleak human rights record. No we won’t take dictation on how to control our population, either. If China can turn its population into an asset, so can we.

One thing we can be justly proud of in this year is fund-raising campaign for Diamer-Bhasha Dam, instilling a sense of dignity in the nation. The old and the young are contributing to the fund with the same spirit. Our report predicts that at this rate, Pakistan will be able to make the Dam in 90 instead of the 190 years as predicted earlier.
