Red Bull Sound Clash 2018
At Red Bull Sound Clash 2018, held earlier this month in Karachi where, in a surprising twist, Strings took the series. Defending the genre of pop, they outplayed Ali Azmat, who did a decent job defending rock. Some incredible images of Karachi enjoying itself to the music made that night special.
Chand Tara Orchestra release ‘Rung De’ teaser
The super-group featuring Omran Shafique, Babar Sheikh, Shahryar ‘Sherry’ Raza and Rizwan Ullah Khan, after making their Coke Studio debut with ‘Nami Danam’ as well as releasing an unplugged version of the same song, are gearing up to unveil their new music video, ‘Rung De’. A teaser of the song is out, which shows that their take on this kalaam by Amir Khusro is drenched in post-rock, ambient ideas and visually is going to give other videos a run for its money upon release. The Omran Shafique image, shared here is styled by Faraz Sheikh and with wardrobe by Munib Nawaz, whose association with music runs long. However, it is here that he seems to have outdone his previous works. The upcoming video is directed by Fida Moin.
Atif Aslam and Zeeshan Parwez join forces for ‘12 Bajay’
Atif Aslam and Zeeshan Parwez worked together for the first time during the early years of Coke and that was it. The two have now joined forces for a new music that tracks both Atif’s journey as a traveling rock star, at an iconic studio while Zeeshan’s digital tricks elevate the video. As Zeeshan Parwez settles back home, his first project is the video he has made with Atif and the song, well, it reminds you of Atif Aslam from his early years and he admits this one was made, not for numbers but for the love of music. Watch out for it. It is the strongest song Atif has done in a while and Zeeshan’s comeback could not have been better, as he captured Aslam in the zone and as a growing star but with a bag of digital tricks to go with it.
Mukesh Ambani’s daughter ties the knot
It may have been the year of weddings in Bollywood with Sonam Kapoor tying the knot with Anand Ahuja and Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone also getting married. But business tycoon, Mukesh Ambani, left everyone behind when it came to celebrations. The wedding of his daughter, Isha Ambani to Anand Piramal not only cost millions of dollars but basically had anyone who means anyone in Bollywood, turn up for it in Udaipur.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sanjay Dutt and many others made it to the wedding of the richest man in India.
At the pre-wedding bash, Beyonce Knowles serenaded the crowd in Udaipur. Moreover, Isha Ambani’s wedding also pulled in politicians such as Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Irani, American politicians Hilary Clinton and John Kerry, Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih. SRK danced with his wife while Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai danced to the song ‘Tere Bina’ from their film, Guru. All three Khans, including Aamir Khan, were present and shook a leg as well.
