BEAUTY STATION! Homemade hair masks

Instep Desk

Winter is coming and it is time to take extra care of our tresses as the dry weather can be quite rough on it, resulting in split ends, limp, dry and frizzy hair. Besides the weather there are other elements like pollution, exposure to the sun and most importantly using hair styling products like the blow dryer, flat iron or dyeing and perming your hair excessively, which can wreak havoc on your hair. So if you want to remove buildup, help your hair grow faster or you just want a nourishing mask for shiny locks, then the best option is to go for homemade hair masks as they are really gentle on hair and the ingredients used don’t contain chemicals that strip your hair of natural moisture.

Instep shares some DIY hair masks that will leave your hair soft and shiny.

Bye bye hair fall

Hair fall is a huge concern for almost everyone and an efficient and smart way to prevent hair loss is to try out this special mask. You only need two ingredients: 10 to 12 fresh curry leaves and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Heat the curry leaves in the coconut oil until they pop. Wait until the oil cools down to a warm temperature and then apply it to your scalp and hair. Keep it on for 20 minutes and then rinse off with a gentle shampoo.

For dry, brittle hair

This simple DIY hair mask can leave your dry hair healthy and shiny in no time. Simply grind enough almonds for about 5 tablespoons and mix with 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 4 tablespoons egg white. Whisk until you have a nice consistency and apply this mask to your damaged hair. Let it stay overnight (be sure to wear a shower cap) and then wash your hair with a gentle, natural shampoo and cold water the next morning.

Quick fix for split ends

Tired of trimming your hair to get rid of split ends? This hair repairing mask is a quick fix for split ends. To prepare this mask you will require 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of almond oil and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. In a bowl mix the ingredients well and apply to the hair starting from the ends and then working it up along the rest of your hair shaft. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then shampoo and condition your hair as you would normally and see the magic.
