The past week saw a number of events held in Karachi including The Wedding Atelier, which provided a one-stop shop to all the brides and grooms-to-be. The week also saw the trailer launch of Indus Blues, a spectacular documentary that explores different musical cultures that reside within Pakistan. Apart from that, a theatre play, titled Jasoosi Duniya also premiered in Karachi, while a rare event featuring the legendary Farida Khanum and Ali Sethi was organised in Lahore. Indus Blues trailer unveils

The official trailer of Indus Blues was launched earlier this week at Alliance Francaise de Karachi. Directed by Jawad Sharif, the documentary film narrates the story of nine fading musical instruments and a number of maestros who can play those instruments. While the film picked up a nomination for Best Documentary Film at Regina International Film Festival (RIFF) earlier this year, Indus Blues recently won the Grand Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature at GUAM - USA International Film Festival (GIFF). The documentary will be screened across Pakistan later this year.

 

The Wedding Atelier concludes in Karachi

Dubbed as "The Ultimate Luxury Wedding Guide", The Wedding Atelier, organised by Sara Chapra of Carbon Events, recently concluded in Karachi. The two-day event held at Pearl Continental, served as an exclusive opportunity for brides and grooms-to-be to meet top notch names of the wedding industry. Over hundred artisans and experts showcased at the event including Natasha’s Salon, Kiran Fine Jewellery, The PinkTree Company, Esfir Jewels and many more.

 

Jasoosi Duniya premieres in Karachi

Directed by Khalid Ahmed, theatre play Jasoosi Duniya – Eik Comedy is a murder mystery that premiered on October 4. The play is an adaptation of Sam Bobrick’s book, The Psychic and features Saman Ansari, who makes her theatrical debut with the stage production. Jasoosi Duniya - Eik Comedy will run till October 13 at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) in Karachi.

 

Farida Khanum takes centre stage in Lahore

In what was certainly a rare event, the iconic singer Farida Khanum took center stage where she was joined by Ali Sethi. She shared her views on the current state of music at the event, titled Maestros of Raag, held at LUMS, Lahore. The event also featured Ali Sethi, who recalled his first experience of listening to Farida Khanum’s song ‘Aaj Jaanay Ki Zid Na Karo’ during the film Monsoon Wedding fifteen years ago.
