It’s time to hit the beach and dress up in easy, breezy silhouettes. It is also holiday season, the most perfect time of the year-- which means it’s also time to try out a new set of beauty trends. In search of inspiration, we scouted the internet for the most visible trends that you can wear on your summer holiday; these looks are easy to manage and won’t get you unnecessary stares on the streets. #TryTheTrends in peace!
Fresh faced beauty
Bye-bye heavy contouring and wild blocky brows; good skincare and au naturale skin is the name of the game this summer. Many beauty buffs and makeup artists prefer to let their skins breathe and take a break from products on their summer vacations. They load up on good skincare products and focus on achieving fresh baby skin with less. To create the look, just add a touch of bronzer to your skin for a fresh, sun-kissed feel and top off with a tinted lip balm.
Sunset eye
A lot of makeup artists are urging DIY’ers to apply a soft citrus wash across the entire lid. We saw Zara Peerzada bring this trend to life in her shoot with Mango, as their new spokesperson in Pakistan. People stay away from the colour because they think it makes their eyes look puffy but you can line the eyes with a black eyeliner to add definition and separate the colour from the lids and the eyes and voila!
Metallic lips and lids
Choose metals that suit your skin’s undertone. If you have warm undertones, stick to golds, bronze and coppers. Cool undertones? Go for silvers, pewters and charcoal. If you have neutral undertones all metals are fair game. The idea is to keep the eye neutral and keep the attention on the lips or the other way around. Take inspiration from this look that makeup artist Fatima Nasir created on Anushay Mughal for a Grazia Pakistan editorial.
Go glossy
We’ve said it before and we will say it again: Lip gloss is back and it’s poppin’. Holographic lip gloss looks cool and understated when worn alone with just defined brows, mascara, and softly sculpted cheeks. The fact that Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb is Sephora’s best-selling product lately also tells us a little about how much the market is loving the product. Dab a bit of product on your eyelids and cheekbones for additional dimension.
Tan tan tan
Nothing says beach holiday better than a roasted gold tan and our celebrities - we’re looking at you Frieha Altaf - have perfected the technique. We’d recommend you go for SPF30 over SPF50, which filters 97% of UVB rays, while SPF50 filters 98%. The latter is often so chalky you may not reapply it every two hours like you should. Frieha recommends Hawaiian Tropic as her tanning lotion of choice and she advises you wear a wide hat to avoid sun damage. With a good tan, you probably won’t need foundation or concealer or any extra layering!
