Dupattas never really went out of fashion but this year we see them appearing in designer ensembles more often than usual. It seems people have rediscovered the beauty and femininity of a well draped dupatta and what it can add to a look. During the holy month people also prefer wearing dupattas so their ubiquity over the past few weeks makes all the more sense!

Fahad Hussayn

Fahad Hussayn isn’t someone who colours between the lines, which is why his designs stand out. That holds just as true for his latest edition of luxury lawn, launched under his Print Museum umbrella, especially for Eid. There is colour, there is panache and while the world is talking about fusion and resort wear, there is a commitment to tradition, as seen with voluminous dupattas.

Zaheer Abbas

His Riwayat collection features one very traditional ensemble with hand embroidered kamdani and sequins on kacha cotton. This is paired with an organza zari dupatta that finishes off the look with grace. Organza dupattas are subtle and yet don’t hide the kaam on kameezes, so they’re an easy addition to make.

Amna Chaudhry

Chaudhry’s designs are minimalist and projected in a busy space, quite eye catching especially in the summer for their easy, breezy look. She designs separates and has an interesting range of kurtas and pants but her three piece ensembles look perfect for a more put together and formal look.

Rano’s Heirlooms

Rano’s Heirlooms is well known for their traditional ensembles with lehengas, cholis and heavily embellished dupattas. Mahira Khan chose to wear one of their looks for 7 Din Mohabbat In promotions and we love it because it’s not too overdone and perfect for day look.

Zara Shahjahan

We love Zara Shahjahan’s aesthetic simply because she has an unapologetic love for tradition that is refreshingly grafted with a rebel streak. She’ll do modern ghararas with print overdose and make them work; she’ll take feminine pastels and construct them androgynously. We love the silhouettes she has styled for her Eid 2018 collection; they’re light and breezy and have the most delicate dupattas to compliment the outfits.
