Weddings are all about flaunting exquisite outfits and looking picture perfect even if it is not your big day. It is a chance to celebrate the happy couple, mingle with friends and family and hang out at a fancy venue. Gals who like to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to beauty, will want to discover the makeup and hair trends that are fit for a wedding.
Weddings have long been considered synonymous with a notion of getting everything, especially on the beauty front, flawless. Events such as mayoon, mehndi, baraat and valima give us all the excuse to conjure up different makeup looks – something beyond that minimal makeup routine that we sport all year long.
Instep got in touch with Tabesh Khoja to know more about the top six styles that are ruling. Here you go.
Strobe away
‘Strobing is the new contouring’ – we have heard this phrase quite often. The fact is that dewy skin and strobing ruled last year and this trend is still going strong. A fresh, dewy look provides a subtle glow. According to Khoja, strobing is one trend that is here to stay. It gives a very natural sheen without the harsh lines of foundation. "Strobing is all about getting that perfect glow," he shared. "For wedding events, it is not necessary to go heavy with the foundation. Keep your base natural and opt for strobing."
Hints of metal
Metallics are the way to go this wedding season. Be it on the eyes, nails and lips, metallic shades such as silver, bronze and gold are still shining bright. "Our makeup trends for last year had cosmic metallic finishes and with the wedding season in full swing women are opting for metallic shades," observed Khoja.
The sparkle touch
Another trend is the glitter craze - be it on the lips, nails and even on the eyes, this trend is everywhere. "We just love glitter, whether it is the sparkly eye liners or glittery eye brows and lips. Apart from glitter, girls like to experiment with blingy rhinestones especially at the outer corner of the eyes," he shared.
Hello beach waves
There are various hairstyles one can opt for, but the fact remains that coiffuring up various hair dos for special occasions is surely a feat. According to Khoja, "If you are big fan of letting your hair loose, then beach waves, Hollywood waves and retro beach waves are the most adored beauty hair trends. And the best part is that waves also look flattering on any hair length."
Hair dos
"Natural makeup is in, and overly complicated and massive up-dos are out. These days everyone is more in favour of contemporary hair rather than going for typical buns. Even the brides are experimenting with hair styles," noted Khoja. "Half tied hair with braids is quite in vogue. Also, as compared to the past, updos are now much more softer with minimal back combing. Too much back-combing is completely out."
Embellish your tresses
Regarding hair trends that are all the rage, Tabesh Khoja said, "We get a lot of clients, particularly girls, who want to try out something different as far as hair styling is concerned. So hair embellishments give a fun yet glamorous twist to any hairstyle. For wedding occasions girls opt for up dos with matha patti or teeka for a ‘desi’ touch."
