January is always sartorially exciting. Whether it is celebs stepping out to promote their upcoming movies, grand nuptials that require you to be decked in finery or the numerous brunches, lunches and parties that tend to take over our schedule, there’s a reason to dress up every day. We round up some of our favourite looks from this week, featuring some of the country’s most beloved stars with some international flavour thrown in for good measure.
Who: Sanam Saeed
Where: Bachaana trailer launch
Saeed is poised and charming in minimalistic separates: Zara trousers and an understated top from her personal wardrobe. We love her asymmetrical top and mink pants but can’t help wishing that she had opted for more statement making shoes. That said we appreciate the fact that Sanam has a signature style that she sticks to.
Who: Mohib Mirza
Where: Bachaana trailer launch
Mirza plays the lead role in the upcoming romantic thriller and pulled out all the stops for his appearance. We’re fans of his effortlessly cool vibe, particularly the way he chose to roll up one sleeve in a messy fashion while leaving the other buttoned. The Jodhpur pants are a tricky number but we’re happy that Mohib has the nerve to experiment and pull off an awkward style.
Who: Mawra Hocane
Where: A concert in India
Our youngest export to India, Hocane is already creating waves with the release of her movie’s trailer. The fresh-faced beauty recently stepped out in a garnet crop top paired with embellished, flared pants by Elan. She kept her beauty look simple with nude lips and softly defined eyes and her signature long locks hanging straight down her back. If we only had to make one edit we’d add a Judith Leiber bird cage clutch to match the white cranes on her pants.
Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: People’s Choice Awards, 2016
Piggy Chops, Chopra’s loving industry moniker, turned up the heat in a dazzling, two tone Vera Wang gown for her appearance at the People’s Choice Awards. The actor won an award for her role in crime series, Quantico but scored even more points with her red carpet style, topping every best dressed list. With her mermaid scales inspired sequinned gown we can’t help but agree. You go girl!
Who: Shaniera Akram
Where: SOP Ball
What we love about the social circuit is how women are equally at ease in hanging up their ghararas and wedding wear and turn to the western side of style for the balls and party season. It all comes naturally for the Australian-born wife of former cricketer Wasim Akram. Shaniera completely owned the look in an asymmetrical, single shoulder sequinned black dress that she wore to the SOP Ball recently. We love her hairdo and basically everything about this look!
