A collaborative effort of three different ventures donates bikes to underprivileged children

Changing lives

I see a large bunch of young kids aged between five to ten bursting with robust energy and waiting to gleefully ride on the first bikes. I was told about this event where some good intentioned people will get together to donated bikes to underprivileged and orphaned children. It was a kind of joint venture between Carmuddi, one of the leading online buying and selling vehicle companies in Pakistan, in collaboration with Roshni Homes Trust and Possibilities.

The place, a banquet hall, was beautifully adorned with a red carpeted aisle too where the competition was to be held.

Roshni Homes is an orphan trust where they raise homeless kids in a family-like environment. The president of Roshni Homes told us that they only employ "educated mothers" to look after the young kids. Furthermore, they conduct aptitude tests and on the basis of that send the children to different schools.

One of the girls raised in Roshni Homes recently got married. All the children are given proper on-campus residential facilities. The idea of this Trust is premised upon a school that is close to our own natural family system.

On the other hand, Possibilities is one of the leading management development and consulting company operating both locally and internationally. Carmuddi worked with both of them to arrange a rare kind of an event, called, My First Bike. At the end of the competition, the host and donated five bikes to the first five children who drove the fastest bikes.

"Our teams are working all across the globe. They are offering such facilities all over the globe where a lot of children who unfortunately don’t have a home or are orphans. So we go there and see how can we help them to improve their lives," said Erwin Sikma, the global managing director of Carmuddi who was there to promote the event.

"Personally, I love to build something. That is why I opened Carmuddi and I also have a passion to help all the people who want to do something. We have a lot talented people with very good educational backgrounds and have good entrepreneurial skills to build up the company and to help Pakistan buy and sell cars and bikes online. With that we also want to have a broader impact on the society," he further said.

Also, by doing these types of events they are trying to open more opportunities for the poor kids to go to college, to go abroad for better study opportunities and to help Pakistan develop more, he said.
