SOME EDGE FOR EID

Marked as the Muslim calendar’s most festive event, Eid-ul-Fitr is just around the corner and you’ve probably already sorted out your outfit, choosing every detail with meticulous care but are stuck in a rut with your traditional accessories. We would advise you to break away from the monotonous Eid fashion of yore and carve a new stylistic direction for yourself this year. We bring you four easy (on the eyes and the wallet) ways to jazz up your Eid look and up your glam quotient with a little individuality.

Ear Cuffs

The ear cuff trend has gripped the globe. From celebrities and socialites to style bloggers and fashion editors, this chic accessory has found its way into the jewellery box of every glamorous woman.

So forget your jhumkas and chandelier earrings and add some panache to your ensemble by pairing it with an appropriate ear cuff. You don’t have to go for serpentile Goth (unless you’re a rebel at heart) but can choose from countless pretty options (crystalline, matte gold) available.

Structured Clutches

Do not, and we repeat: do not leave the house with a ‘bag’ on your arm. Leave your trusty tote behind and switch over to a funky clutch. From Muse’s lux box and wooden clutches, Zara Shahjahan’s neon and Deena Rehman’s embellished envelopes to Khaadi Khaas’s gorgeous quilted creations, there are some fab options out there. Make this Eid all about flaunting some gorgeous hand candy.

Messy, Braided Hair:

If there’s one feature that truly defines your face, it’s your hair. And in the humid summers we live in perpetual fear of bad hair days, with their uncontrollable frizz and defiance to any relaxing hair product. If your beauty routine is incomplete without a "volumized" blow-dry or your straightening iron, this one’s for you. Leave your flat-irons alone this Eid and invest in a texturizing spray. Spritz onto wet hair for a disheveled, bed-head look and battle the heat by plaiting your hair in to a chic fish tail or a cascading waterfall braid. Let’s be honest: your chand raat blow dry isn’t going to last you three days! (Now is a good time to invest in dry shampoo. You just might manage to pull it off.)

Nail Art

Instead of piling the henna on your hand (something you’ve been doing since you were a little girl), opt instead for a dazzling manicure. Take the classic French and turn it on its head by asking your nail technician for a half moon manicure in any colour you want. Or better still, let your nails become your canvas. Forals, geometric, simple or intricate, nail art is definitely the way to go. Since you will be changing numerous outfits over the eid festivities, we do suggest you opt for a manicure that is neutral and doesn’t clash with any one of your looks. And for some extra pizzazz, style your new nails with midi-rings.
