Food goes well with cinema viewing and there is no denying that a diverse variety always attracts the customers looking for a casual eatery when they head out to watch a movie. The Super multiplex at Vogue Towers is now home to a number of eating outlets which have been given a fair amount of space on the third floor of the building where the boxoffice counters exist. One of them is the recently launched Patyala Pyala.
The place is generating quite a buzz amongst ladies getting together for kitty parties or general ‘gupshup’. After having settled in one of their relaxing sofas overlooking the city-scape, I ordered dahi bhallas at the restaurant. It was served as the dahi-phulki combo, along with sweet and sour sauce and mint chutney.
Other items on the Patyala Pyala menu include the lip-smacking paani puri, sweet potatoes, channa and bhail puri chaats each of them priced at Rs160 for individual serving.
Some platters are reasonably priced mainly to attract students who can enjoy the meal with friends. We could whiff the aromas emanating from the fine dining restaurant adjacent to Patyala Pyala and Deli Fresh. Golden Mile and Burgers and Lobsters are two restaurants operating under the same roof, also boasting a vast menu. With a plethora of options available we decided to order a bit from both places to get the gist of the quality of the food.
The ambience deserves a special mention due to its consideration towards comfort. The cubicle seating with screens dividing the four eateries makes it into a fully-fledged food court that is packed to capacity before and after a movie show. The crowds throng the place to taste their value-for-money deals, various cuisines and big portion sizes that are generous enough for two. People can opt for outdoor seating if the weather permits as the rooftop view of the city is unparalleled.
An interesting main course was served which consisted of Thai Garlic Chilli Prawns served with oyster and soya bean sauce which my friend couldn’t get enough of. The Jalapeño chicken burger tasted juicy but one doesn’t approve of the overdose of mayonnaise which can be removed on request. Margarita pizza laden with cheese, tomatoes and oregano is sure to keep the children happy and there’s enough variety of pastas too. The flame-grilled steaks are a must-try and so are their mocktails, smoothies and fresh juices that one can fall back on if nothing from the menu interests. We were told that chefs were specifically hired to ensure that the cultural essence of the cuisines available at the place is retained.
Sea-food lovers will be pleased to embrace delicacies such as the Thai Squid curry, Singapori Chilli Prawns, grilled lobster, herbed cherry tomato salad and a quirky dish named Crab Meat Cocktail served cold which is a blend of Thai Chili bird, mayo, ginger and lemongrass.
The meal isn’t complete without the delicious desserts that are mostly ice cream-based, so we settled for fruity sundae served with toppings and fresh fruit along with frozen cappuccino and milkshakes in the usual flavours.
The place can be booked for birthday parties and a customised enclosed party area is also available. There is enough entertainment projected for anyone opting for a nice evening out during the summer break.
