Godzilla
Release date: May 14Set for a worldwide release in the next two weeks, Godzilla is ready to return to the silver screen and disperse civilians. The film is going to be a reboot and will altogether introduce the origin of Godzilla in contemporary times. Yet, this time round, even the monster has his work cut out for him it seems! This movie will also feature malevolent monsters who will be embroiled in a conflict with Godzilla. Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston plays a nuclear scientist who tries to make sense of the situation.
The trailer left viewers worldwide gaping at the utter chaos erupted by Godzilla as troops parachuted down to tackle the situation. A teasing glimpse of the monster was shown and Godzilla looked menacing as ever.
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Release date: May 23
The X-Men are back with another promising flick X-Men: Days of Future Past! There are always many reasons to watch an X-Men film, among them the mutant’s ability to annihilate their foes via incomprehensive superpowers. Wolverine and his fellow mutants must travel back in time to salvage their past, which will determine their future! Military scientist Boliver Trask has tasked his robotic Sentinels to terminate the mutant race once and for all. The X-Men must travel back in time and rally their younger selves to join forces and fight for their survival.
The movie boasts an ensemble cast to watch out for, such as Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), James McAvoy (Professor X), Halle Berry (Storm), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage (Boliver Trask).
With the human race sidelined, it would be interesting to witness a Mutants vs Robots battle ensue!
Maleficent
Release date: May 30
It appears that Disney’s legendary Maleficent will be up against mutants and lizards and all sorts of superheroes as these films release within weeks of each other. It’ll be a tough battle as Angelina Jolie plays the role of vindictive fairy Maleficent, who curses the infant princess to later discover that the princess is the only one who can restore peace to the forest. The fairy, originally a kind-hearted woman who lives in a forest, rises to the occasion as a defender when an invading army threatens to turn her forest into a wasteland. A treacherous betrayal causes her to turn evil. After cursing Princess Aurora, Maleficient soon realizes that the young princess might be the vestibule of peace between the forest kingdom and the human kingdom. Hence begin her efforts to befriend the Princess and her attempts to keep Aurora out of harm’s way. The movie focuses on Maleficent more than Sleeping Beauty and brings forth a fresh perspective that both children and adults are bound to love.
Transformers: Age of Extinction

Michael Bay has returned to direct the fourth part of the acclaimed robot science fiction film series Transformers. Transformers: Age of Extinction will for the very first time, have an altogether new cast and storyline. The new cast features veteran actor Mark Wahlberg (Cade) who stumbles upon the great Autobots leader, Optimus Prime. The Earth-friendly transformers, along with all of their kind, have earned the ire of the human race due to the battle of Chicago in the previous part. Hence, the military has been tasked to exterminate all transformers. Cade and his daughter Tessa’s discovery of Optimus attracts the unwanted attention of the Autobots, the government and the Decepticons. By now the humans have also made their own transformers but due to some malfunction the man-made robots gain self-awareness and turn on their creators!
Enthralling audiences for the first time in the film franchise are the Dinobots (dinosaur-shaped transformers). There are high expectations from the new cast, Michael Bay’s direction and visual effects artists. Plenty of transformers have been thrown into the mix in Transformers: Age of Extinction. Come May 27, the Age of Technology or rather, Extinction will be upon us!
Teen-age Mutant Ninja Turtles
Release date: August 8
The comic fest this summer keeps on pounding on with the Teen-age Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to hit the silver screen on August 8 this year. This action comedy film, directed by Johnathan Liebesman, is a reboot of the self titled movie series. Master Splinter uses his knowledge of Martial Arts to induce skills into his adopted turtles Leonardo, Donatello, Michael Angelo and Rafael. William Fitchner from acclaimed series Prison Break stars as The Shredder, Splinter’s arch- nemesis who plans to misrule Manhattan. The turtles, with the aid of reporter April O’ Neil (played by the sultry Megan Fox) and her witty camera man Vernon Fenwick, aim to prevent Shredder from doing so.
Viewers got a glimpse of what lies in store when the trailer was released worldwide. The turtles are macho and much, much bigger in size than what we saw in the comics! Megan Fox is always a treat to watch in any venture that has Michael Bay’s involvement in it. What the audience can expect is a doze of clean cut action, versatile combat scenes (considering the diverse weapon-choice of all four turtles) and bouts of comedy, all in a ‘nutshell’!
