isplayed at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York Fashion Week (NYFW) highlighted a diverse array of designers and collections, ranging from renowned names to emerging talents.
This week, we are focusing on American designer Michael Kors’ Autumn collection. One recurring theme at this year’s event was workwear—an approach that, let’s be honest, makes everyday dressing significantly easier. While there is always room for eccentric, over-the-top designs— some of which inevitably make their way to the Met Gala and various award shows, worn by celebrities—most fashion enthusiasts seek styles that are both wearable and stylish.
With that in mind, Kors delivered a collection that is not only efficient and useful but also effortlessly stylish.
“It’s about the idea of ease, which we Americans invented. The world dresses this way, but what I like is that it has glamour,” Kors told The Associated Press backstage before the show.
While the designer stayed true to his signature neutral palette of black, grey, and camel—interspersed with plum, lavender, and seafoam green—he embraced a more maximalist approach to texture.
“There’s this relaxed ease to how they look that I think is modern,” Kors said.
“It’s also about layering things in a very cool way. So, it could be… a silk dress, but grab your husband’s coat or his jacket and throw it on. It’s about stride. I like it when clothes move when you walk. That’s what’s sexy, not being naked. Delicious oversized cardigan blazers and coats with these very sorts of filmy, soft dresses. This show is anti-corset, anti-Spanx, anti-bustier. It’s that comfort and ease,” Kors said.

Despite the chilly temperature in New York City, the show attracted a host of celebrities, including American actresses Uma Thurman, Kerry Washington, Lea Michele, Cristin Milioti, and Rachel Zegler. British actress, model, and singer Suki Waterhouse, along with Australian actress Rose Byrne, all sat together in the front row.
“I can’t stop singing my praises about it,” gushed Waterhouse. “Those drama-crazy hats, scarves that look like blankets. It was everything it needed to be.”
Byrne said the clothes were “gorgeous” and so wearable. “(I’m) obsessed with the oversized suits already. The classic big coats, the beautiful chic dresses. Classic Michael Kors—he always delivers.”
