Organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), TEXPO 2024 highlighted both domestic and international talent, aiming to propel Pakistan’s textile industry to global prominence while advocating for sustainable practices.

he centerpiece of TEXPO 2024 was undoubtedly the fashion show, which epitomized the event’s commitment to strengthening the textile industry, stimulating exports, and championing eco-friendly initiatives.
Beyond the runway, the event encompassed a diverse array of activities, including exhibitions, networking opportunities, and insightful panel discussions, fostering an environment conducive to professional growth and knowledge exchange.
With over 400 delegates in attendance, TEXPO 2024, held between October 23 to October 25 just last month, was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of KP and Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh.
Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), along with Secretary Mr. Sheryar Taj and other prominent industry leaders, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a significant milestone for the textile industry. TDAP also hosted an official reception for international delegates at the Pearl Continental Hotel.
Special Secretary of Commerce Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Mangnejo, Mr. Zubair Motiwala, and Mr. Sheryar Taj extended a warm welcome to esteemed guests and local exhibitors, reinforcing Pakistan’s reputation as a hospitable nation.
TEXPO served as a pivotal platform for global trade, inviting buyers from around the world to connect with local industry players and explore Pakistan’s extensive textile offerings.
Approximately 527 foreign buyers from nearly 60 countries attended, while 274 exhibitors showcased their collections. Over 2,700 specialized B2B meetings resulted in substantial orders and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), securing $1.875 million in textile contracts and anticipated orders of $910 million, thereby reinforcing Pakistan’s position as a major player in high-quality textiles.
The participation of top global brands underscored Pakistan’s growing stature as a promising market and business hub.
Delegations from Argentina, the Netherlands, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Colombia, and Brazil engaged in fruitful discussions with Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala (Chief Executive of TDAP) and Mr. Sheryar Taj (Secretary of TDAP), further strengthening international relationships.
As part of TEXPO Talks, an ancillary event, two insightful seminars delved into the realms of sustainability and innovation within Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors. One session, titled , ‘Green Threads: Weaving Sustainability into Pakistan’s Textile and Leather Sectors,’ featured renowned speakers such as Mr. Omar Hameed (Economic Minister, Brussels) and Ms. Bianca Seidel (MD, Bianca Seidel Consultancy). The session included a panel discussion with industry leaders from organizations such as Mr. Ivo Spauwen (Better Work Programme), Mr. Muhammad Fauz ul Azeem (Interloop), Mr. Imran Zaidi (Primark), and Dr. Hafsa Jamshed (NTU), attracting significant participation from industry professionals, government representatives, and international buyers. The Pakistan Southern Africa Trade Federation (PSATF), led by Chairman Muhammad Rafiq Memon, highlighted the positive impact of TEXPO on the region. Memon shared that scheduled shipments are expected to be completed by early 2025, underscoring Pakistan’s growing export presence in Southern Africa.
“These orders are a testament to the quality and global appeal of Pakistani textiles. They will significantly enhance Pakistan’s export footprint worldwide, particularly in Southern Africa, where demand for our textiles continues to grow,” Memon stated.
However, crowd management issues led to congestion, affecting accessibility for fashion professionals. While the fashion show has traditionally been a highly anticipated feature, improved crowd control could enhance the event’s focus in the business of fashion, allowing serious commitment and passion to drive the industry forward.
As for the fashion show, each designer brought unique interpretations to the theme, blending tradition with modern design.
