As the first quarter of 2024 draws to a close, let’s closely examine the trends that have emerged on and off the red carpet.
Luxury brand: Oliver Peoples
For some, spectacles are a necessity, prescribed by an ophthalmologist to aid in reading, enhance distant vision, and prevent headaches. However, in 2024, spectacles have emerged as a fashionable accessory. From Bollywood to Hollywood, celebrities are embracing spectacles. For some, it is for vision correction but for most, it is a style statement. Among the notable brands, Oliver Peoples stands out as a leader in luxury eyewear, favoured by numerous major celebrities in Hollywood and (some) in Bollywood.
Prolific names include Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland (among several others). Oliver Peoples gained so much popularity that many A-listers adorned the brand at the 2024 Academy Awards, including global superstar and tennis champion Roger Federer (who co-designed eyewear for the RF Oliver Peoples collection).
A trend worth it: Brooches
While diamonds may be a woman’s traditional best friend, brooches have emerged as the new favorite accessory among A-list actors, particularly in Hollywood. This trend has gained prominence in the 2024 award season, with stars like Cillian Murphy, Ke Huy Quan, Jeffrey Wright, Colman Domingo, Donald Glover, Claire Danes and Katherine Heigl adorning brooches as their accessory of choice on the red carpet.
What stylists have endorsed: black
Black (and white) are technically regarded as shades rather than colors. However, regardless of this distinction, black has emerged as the predominant trend of the season. While not the sole option, black has been favored by Hollywood stylists for prominent events in 2024. Though some have incorporated splashes of color, black has largely overshadowed other hues, particularly at high profile events.
Airport goals
A-list celebrities from Bollywood have started to pay serious attention to their attire when traveling through airports, whether they are flying from one city to another, going on vacation, or shooting abroad. This trend has gained prominence because they are frequently captured on camera, given the growing paparazzi culture in India.
