Spotify, the most prominent audio streaming site in the world, has made great inroads in Pakistan since its entrance in the country’s music market over two years ago.
The streaming giant, which has more than 574 million users, including 226 million subscribers, in more than 180 markets, continues to be at the forefront of promoting female artists.
In 2024, it is good to see that the EQUAL Pakistan campaign, which is purely dedicated to promoting female talent, is far from over.
To that end, the first ambassador for EQUAL Pakistan in 2024, is Nehaal Naseem, a bright and promising spark in the ever-evolving music scene. After all, this is a time when the number of women in music in Pakistan is consistently growing.
Much like past ambassadors who have at least one track selected and entered in the EQUAL Pakistan playlist, Naseem’s track ‘Beqadra’ has been selected and featured in the respective playlist.
According to the artist, the track is “her baby” and it has, according to a press release, resonated with her fanbase.
“It’s an honor for me to be selected at such an early age,” said Nehaal, on being a part of this campaign. “I’m proud of the work the Spotify EQUAL campaign is doing in promoting talented female artists in Pakistan. I am hopeful it will help in leveling the playing field for female artists/musicians,” she added.
Nehaal Naseem, prior to being an EQUAL Pakistan ambassador, was featured in Spotify Fresh Finds Pakistan campaign after an astonishing 2852 percent growth in monthly listeners.
In other numbers provided by Spotify, her song, ‘Beqadra’ has accumulated over 7 million streams since February 2023 and featured on Pakistan top charts for 49 weeks straight.
She emerged as a voice for the first time in 2016 at the age of 11 when a video of hers went viral. Nehaal Naseem has never looked back.
As part of the EQUAL Pakistan campaign, she joins an illustrious list that includes names such as Hadiqa Kiani, the late Nazia Hassan, Natasha Noorani, Natasha Baig, Arooj Aftab and several others.
