Earlier this month, the annual Lux Style Awards (LSA) wrapped up its 22nd edition. The longstanding contemporary award ceremony in the country didn't take place without its set of thrilling and not-so-thrilling performances and controversies that are as annual as the event itself. The real question, for the purpose of this quiz, is how well you remember the past year in music as well as your LSA memory – particularly in the music segment.
1. In the Critic’s Category that was dominated by Coke Studio 14, who are some of the other producers who should’ve been nominated – apart from Xulfi and co-producer Abdullah Siddiqui (winner) for the mammoth hit, ‘Pasoori’ by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill?
a) Jokhay, because of his significant, popular work with Young Stunners
b) Alternative neo-rock outfit from Lahore’s Karakoram singer-songwriter and a man who can wear many musical hats, Sherry Khattak, for producing the collaborative song ‘Kyun’ between Karakoram and Hasan Raheem
c) Abdullah Siddiqui and Meesha Shafi for the latter’s anthemic and provoking single, ‘Rajkumari’
d) Roshaan Sherwani for Hassan & Roshaan ‘Sukoon (ft. Shae Gill)’ because it’s a good song and another showcase of how newer music producers have the ability to leave their predecessors and peers behind
e) Zain Ahsan, because this elegy of a song called 'Nazar' is Poor Rich Boy at its best and in addition to being a terrific producer, he also played all of the instruments in the song.
f) Xulfi and Abdullah Siddiqui, because ‘Pasoori’ is just a very electrifying, addictive and inventive song with a genuine soul and certainly deserved to win but that doesn’t mean others should not have been acknowledged
2. From the following, which artist has not won a Lux Style Award?
a) Slowspin (Zeerak Ahmed) – photography by Alyse Nelson
b) Strings
c) Rohail Hyatt
d) Ali Azmat
3. From the
following, which of the artists have won a Lux Style Award:
a) Noori

c) Ali Tariq
d) All of the above
4. Which of the following LSA-winning music video directors have made a full-length film:
a) Kamal Khan
b) Saqib Malik
c) Asim Raza
d) All of the above
Answers
1. F, but, above all, they should’ve been acknowledged with a nomination at least
2. B, because somehow Strings never won for any of their six albums but the now disbanded group has won awards for its music videos.
3. D, This question is rigged because all of them have won over the years.
4. D, this answer is also rigged because all of them have directed at least one full-fledged film, with Kamal Khan directing Laal Kabootar, Saqib Malik directing Baaji and Asim Raza helming the all-star Parey Hut Love.
