ape Monze Records (CPR), an indie-electronic music label based out of Karachi, takes every release – that it is willing to put on its eclectic roster – seriously.

Any indie-electronic artist signed to the label has must have some potential.

To that end, after CPR released Sawali’s EP titled Conveyance just last mo-nth, Karachi’s coolest record label is back with another release, primarily by a Karachi-based artist called Sidd.

After contributing to Cape Monze Records’ Momentum Pakistan flood relief compilation album, he is back with the label, releasing what will be his first solo 2-track single ‘Essa // Work’.

Sidd may sound like an obscure name to some but as Cape Monze Reco-rds confirmed in a press statement that he is rather prolific. Born in Karachi, Sidd was raised between Pakistan and Australia. At the age of just 13, he ended up being a DJ.

Said Cape Monze Rec-ords in a press statement, “Sidd is one of Pakistan’s youngest and most exciting prospects in electronic music. Featured in Mixmag Asia & EDM.com, Sidd has worked with household names such as BBC Asian Network and Spotify as well as underground communities such as Keep Hush UK. The electronic DJ/producer’s signature style of house music aims to proudly represent Pakistan on a global scale and promises to bridge South Asian culture with the rest of the world.”

As for his current release, the young and prolific artist is drawing from many genres and subgenres including “afro house” (among other influences), making songs that carry a summer vibe and have the momentum of club music tracks ready to boom.

Sidd has studied audio engineering from SAE Institute of Australia.

You can’t help but marvel at Sidd’s music that has a sound that’s fresh and global. It can work in Pakistan’s larger electronic music ecosystem but just as easily find this genre, subgenre and a clear creation of soundscape in a London nightclub.

In terms of further showcase of astounding talent, Sidd also made the artwork with animation by @needhelp, photography by @hasanhalaii and Aimen Hussain @shotbyaimen.

Watch out for Sidd, he has the potential to add to the South Asian rise we’re seeing at the moment. Cape Monze Records is also playing its part in the rise so here’s hoping the artist and the label continue to tread down this path.
