The upcoming film about the world’s most famous doll has given birth to some incredible collaborations.

uys, there was a time long ago, when the world wasn’t a global village and sometimes we just saw stuff on TV and in movies that we knew the names of but didn’t quite know what they exactly were. The one thing every little girl still knew about in those ancient times, aka the ‘80s was Barbie.
And oh what Barbies there were! Wedding Barbie, My First Barbie, Disco Barbie, Tropical Barbie; the list seemed excitingly endless. The best present back then, for anyone inclined so, would have been a Barbie doll. Barbie was pretty, dressed well, and went on to conquer all kinds of things over the decades, with the universe becoming more inclusive and diverse in more recent years.
So you can imagine that the upcoming movie is setting off some dormant emotion in all Barbie fans worldwide, and to add further glitter to the snowglobe of memories where we play with our Barbies for all time, are the fashion and beauty collabs.
Firstly, and because they always have a tie-in with movie merch, OPI. There is a whole range of OPI nail colors to commemorate Barbie and Ken, foremost of which have to be the pinks, that very special, hot but muted pink we associate with Barbie. There are glitters and swirls and magic.
NYX also has makeup celebrating Barbie. The It’s A Barbie Party! pale-tte in particular is just too cute. Of course we want the pink and gold. How could anyone say no to it? There are Gap tees and Kendra Scott earrings, and Chi has entered the conversation with a special edition flatiron.
P.s. almost all of the abovementioned were sold out at last check, but full disclosure, just looking at all the very many products has been strangely uplifting.
