s Velo Sound Station stages a comeback after 2 years, the conversation must move to Spotify, the audio streaming app, which is home to 80 million songs from more than dozens of countries from around the world.
What it means is if you are a Spotify user, you can now listen to any Velo Sound Station song no matter where you are.
Spotify will give these songs a bigger audience since it will engage with the local and a global audience.
“We are thrilled about the possibility of featuring Season 2 of Velo Sound Station on our platform,” said Khan FM, Artists and Label Partnerships for Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh at Spotify. “Velo Sound Station delivers a promising twist on new pop music. As music partners, we are excited to amplify the reach of these songs by making them accessible to music lovers around the world who can now enjoy the pop tunes that Velo Sound Station will produce.”
More good news is that Spotify’s EQUAL Pakistan initiative with the mission to highlight Pakistan’s women artists is alive and well and its latest ambassador is the underrated Sanam Marvi, giving folk artists a chance to shine as well as their contemporary music counterparts.
Spotify’s EQUAL initiative, in addition to highlighting a particular ambassador’s work also features them on a digital billboard in Times Square, New York City.
Though several modern artists have been featured on the billboard, but it’s the selection of Sanam Marvi as their latest EQUAL ambassador that is a promising sign that EQUAL will not restrict itself to a certain kind of artist or genre.
Marvi – who is best-known for being a cherished folk and classical singer and Coke Studio veteran – is a seasoned artist, who belongs to the music ecosystem and has been a part of it for 14 years. In addition to releasing music and performing in Pakistan, she has represented the country beyond borders to great success.
Past ambassadors include artists such as Natasha Noorani, Hadiqa Kiani, the Grammy-award winning Arooj Aftab, the late Nazia Hassan and Tina Sani to name just a few from a precocious list.
