What is it about: The play, presented by Ajoka Theatre on the 5th death anniversary of its founder-director Madeeha Gauhar, is a Partition play. It has been “developed from personal testimonies collected and archived by the Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP). Its Oral History Project formed the basis of the curatorial framework for the National History Museum, Lahore. The play revolves around eyewitness accounts of the events that happened in a princely state of East Punjab in 1947 and led to the infamous massacre. The situation of minority communities in the midst of the epoch-making decisions by the powers-that-be and the evil forces which were unfortunately unleashed in the land of love and peace is presented.”
