Of course, a Hassan Sheheryar Yasin collection is a visual tableau of color, embellishment, and drama! So, what was he thinking when designing a festive collection for Q1, ’23? Instep finds out.

ith the dual festive collections everyone’s favorite designer, choreographer, and creature of fashion, HSY has put out this year for online retailer Laam, we learn a little something about him.
Rehana, the collection for women is named after his mother. The pieces that make up this collection are regal, and not for the faint-hearted. That is to say, some of us would wear this to our own wedding, but that’s just us. The collection happens to be available just in time for Eid, so if you’re looking for that something extra, this is your sign to look up Rehana right away.
HSY has said that he has designed the collection for women of substance, who balance their inner and outer lives with grace and courage, while being warm and open to the soft corners in every day. To showcase the collection, HSY picks Saba Qamar, Sarwat Gilani, and Sajal Aly.
Actor Wahaj Ali is the face of The Renaissance Man, designed for men who are comfortable in their skin and slip from role to role in life with ease.
The idea for Rehana was to create an affordable, luxe pret line for women – which at last check was almost completely sold out – so women could access high-end style at lower price points.
This is probably the first time – at least in the last ten odd years – that a budget line from an upscale design house is actually close to the label’s aesthetic. Most budget lines seem like afterthought – or no thought – creations which employ inferior materials and design, and are often so terrible that the ‘budget’ price seems overpriced.
However, let’s raise a bowl of sheer to HSY, for hitting the sweet spot with his affordable festive designs.
