Locals robbed of valuables

GUJRANWALA: Locals were deprived of cash and valuables in different areas of Gujranwala on Thursday.
In Alipur Chattha, robbers intercepted Noorul Ain and snatched Rs 42,000 and two cellphones from him. In Ahmadnagar Chattha, bandits snatched Rs 22,000, one gold ring, and a cellphone from Ishrat. In Qila Didar Singh, Habib was deprived of Rs 14,000 and two cellphones by robbers. In Tatlewali, gunmen snatched Rs 22,000 and two cellphones from Irham. On Noshera Road, dacoits snatched Rs 35,000 and a cellphone from Yusuf. In Dhulley area, bandits snatched a motorcycle (GAP-1493) from Mujahid. In Civil Lines area, gunmen robbed Nadeem of Rs 9,000 and a cellphone. In Satellite Town, bandits snatched a new motorcycle from Asim. New motorcycles of Nafees, Mushtaq, Abbas, Ashiq, Intizar, Hameed and Boby were stolen from different parts of the city.
NA-101 BY-POLLS: Nine candidates, including Justice (retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema of the PML-N, Muhammad Ahmed Chattha of the PTI, Ijaz Cheema of the PPP, Qazi Arshad, independent candidate, have filed their nomination papers on Thursday for by-election in NA-101, Wazirabad. The scrutiny of the papers will be completed upto February 22 and polling is scheduled on March 22.
The Election Commission has established 262 polling stations and 781 polling booths. The seat fell vacant after the disqualification of MNA Justice (retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema for not showing correct assets.
The DRO asked the candidates to abide by the election code of conduct otherwise an action would be taken against violators.
