KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department's (CTD), Sindh, Intelligence Wing, on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three accused including a member of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who were alleged to be involved in target killings and killing of armed forces personnel.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amir Farooqi of CTD Intelligence Wing said that the CTD personnel on a tip-off had raided the outskirts of the city and after an encounter arrested Hanif Khan alias Fazallullah Mehsud. The police also recovered weapons including Kalashnikov from his possession. However, the associates of Khan managed to fled.
During investigation, it was found that the accused belong to banned TTP Sajna Group and recently came to Karachi to form a network. The accused during the year 2002 had joined the Sanjna Group and under the Command of Sanaullah Mehsud had committed terrorism activities.
Hanif's crime included carrying out an attack at a check post in which 12 personnel of Frontier Constabulary were killed while during the attack six of his men were also killed. The incident took place during the year 2006.
During the same year, the accused attacked another check post of FC near Dashka in which six FC personnel were killed while in retaliatory fire four terrorists were also killed. Later, in 2013 the accused fled from the area and came to Karachi and tried to organise his own network with the assistance of Hazrat Ali, commander of banned TTP from Sohrab Goth. He killed Amrao Jan belonging to their rival group in Sohrab Goth.
He added that the CTD personnel had raided in Old City area and arrested Imran alias Commando belonging to a political party’s militant wing (Ranchor Line Sector) and shifted him to the investigation unit.
During investigation, the accused disclosed that in the year 1997 on the request of a political party he was inducted in the Health Department. The accused was involved in collecting donations (Zakat, Fitra), hides and forceful closure of shops during strikes besides target killings.
The accused initially confessed to murdering SI Mohammed Idrees in 2008 in the Garden police remit. Later, in the year 2011 he murdered Janan alias Sakhi in Nabi Bux. In 2012, he murdered Shafi alias Baba and Zafar Ali in Garden while Shahzad, Mohammed Jameel and Naseer in Nabi Bux and Garden areas. Further investigations are underway.
In the third raid, the CTD personnel arrested Mohammed Kasif along with a Kalashnikov. He belonged to a political party. They have also arrested Mohammed Farooq and on his pointation recovered a Kalashnikov and 10,000 bullets. Further investigations are underway.
The paramilitary force during their targeted raids had arrested five suspect with weapons. A spokesman for Rangers said that the personnel of Rangers conducted targeted raid in Yousaf Goth area. During the above mentioned action two kidnappers have been arrested with weapons. They have also conducted targeted raids in Mujahid Colony and Khokrapar areas and arrested three criminals including terrorists of banned outfit and criminal affiliated with a militant. Further investigations are underway.
