SHO, smuggler killed in encounter
Huge cache of weapons, including 44 hand grenades, 25 mortars, seized from dumper

DERA GHAZI KHAN: An SHO and a smuggler were killed while police seized a huge cache of arms from a dumper during an encounter near Kot Chutta on Monday.
On a tip-off, a Sadr police party raided an area to search a dumper (TKB-728). When police reached near the dumper, which was parked outside a hotel, three smugglers opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, Sadr SHO Inspector Imran Nawaz Birohi and a smuggler later identified as Rizwan of Qambar were killed on the spot. However, two smugglers managed to escape with the dumper. To it, police started chasing them. After covering some distance, the outlaws left the vehicle on a road, which was impounded by police. Police recovered weapons, including 44 hand grenades, 25 mortars, 5,000 cartridges of G3 rifles and 900 cartridges of SMGs. Police have registered a case. According to reports, the raiding police party was in plainclothes and private vehicles while police of Kot Chutta where the encounter took place was not a part of the raiding party.
Meanwhile, Namaz-e-Janaza of the martyred policeman was offered at the Police Lines, which was attended by RPO Rehmatullah Niazi, Commissioner Yasrab Hinjra, District and Sessions Judge Malik Khalid Mehmood, Rajanpur DPO Mubashir Maikan, Dera Ghazi Khan acting DPO Irfan Khosa, SP Special Branch Bihar Shah, MNA Hafiz Abdul Kareem and others. Later, the body was sent to Taunsa Sharif for burial.
