SC ends contempt of court proceedings against Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday ended contempt of court proceedings against former interior minister Rehman Malik.
The five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Mushir Alam heard the case.
The court accepted Rehman Malik’s plea against contempt of court proceedings and also suspended the verdict regarding indictment.During the course of proceedings, Latif Khosa, the counsel for Rehman Malik, said that Tariq Khosa’s appointment in Grade-22 was the jurisdiction of the prime minister.
He said the court also did not order his appointment, so how contempt of court cropped up.He said the appointment was the jurisdiction of prime minister but contempt of court proceedings was initiated against Malik. It is pertinent to mention that apex court initiated contempt of court proceedings against Rehman Malik for changing investigation in Steel Mill scams.
