Passport’s home delivery service launched in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Passport Director Akhlaq Ahmed Qureshi on Friday inaugurated passport’s home delivery service at the passport office here.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony, he said that everyone could get his passport now at his home through this service. He informed that only Rs 250 would be service charges to get this facility. He said that ready passports would be delivered only to the relative person through bio-metric verification. He said that about 25,000 passports were being issued daily across the Punjab while steps were being taken to resolve the public complaints. He told that agent mafia would be dealt with iron hand. Regional Director Sales Masood Ahmed while speaking on the occasion said that we were going to sign an agreement with the National Bank of Pakistan to provide this facility to the people.
EXECUTION OF MURDERER STOPPED: The execution of a murder convict was stopped when legal heirs of the victim pardoned him.
Shahzad, s/o Muhammad Nawaz and a resident of Kamoke, had killed Razia Bibi in 2000. His appeals were rejected by various courts while his mercy appeal was also rejected by the President of Pakistan. The district and sessions judge had issued his death warrants for February 12 but just before his execution, legal heirs of the killed woman pardoned him.
BOY INJURED BY STRING: A five-year-old boy was injured when a string cut his throat on GT Road on Friday.
Adeel, a nursery class student and a resident of Nowshera Road, was going with his brother on a motorcycle when a string of a stray kite cut his throat. As a result, he was injured and rushed to a hospital. Aroop police have registered a case.
POWER THIEF CAUGHT: An FIA team on Friday arrested a power thief.
On a tip-off, the FIA team raided at Gunna Kalan village, Sialkot, and arrested Muhammad Razzaq for power theft. A case has been registered against the accused.
