LAHORE:The provincial metropolis received light to moderate rain during the three holidays of Eid-ul-Azha (Sunday to Tuesday).
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said moist currents were penetrating in most parts and likely to strengthen in southern parts of the country from 14th July. sThey predicted that wind/thundershower was expected in Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, eastern Balochistan, Kashmir and lower Sindh. They further predicted that heavy falls were likely in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General said that according to the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal are continuously entering the upper and central areas, causing strong winds in different parts of the country from today (Wednesday) to 17 July (Sunday). Light to heavy rain is expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal during July 13 and 15. There is a serious risk of flooding in local streams of Rawalpindi / Islamabad and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Travel keeping in mind the situation, be careful while travelling, PDMA has issued instructions to all agencies to be alert at all times. Tuesday's maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 45°C while in Lahore, it was 36.2°C and minimum was 29°C.
