From Our Correspondent
BAHAWALPUR: A mysterious blast in a mosque washroom rocked Basti Panu Jhalan, about 85km from here, on Sunday as roofs of washroom and its adjacent house and shops collapsed.
However, no loss of human life was reported in the blast while Channi Goth police allegedly reached the spot three hours after the incident. As the blast occurred, fear and harassment griped the locality and a number of people rushed to the spot. Intensity of the blast was so severe that wreckage of blown roofs scattered in 100-120 meter area.
Channi Goth SHO Nasir Ghauri called the bomb disposal squad (BDS) and informed the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
Talking to The News, the DPO office spokesman said that according to the BDS, it was a geyser explosion which was installed in the washroom of Muhammad Asif’s house, adjacent to the mosque washroom. He said that ASP Ch Ghulam Murtaza and ASP Ahmadpur East Dost Muhammad rushed to the spot and met the locals. However, eyewitnesses claimed that no doubt there was an electric geyser in the washroom but it was without power supply at the time of the incident.
