PESHAWAR: A veteran of the Pakistan Movement and former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice (Retd) Mian Burhanuddin, passed away here on Sunday. He was 96.
His funeral prayers would be offered at 11:30 am today in his village, Musazai, in the Peshawar district. He is survived by a widow, two sons and three daughters. He was father of Colonel Waqar Burhan and neurologist Dr Kamran Burhan, who is an active member of the non-political Tableeghi organisation.
The deceased served as the fifth chief justice of the Peshawar High Court from April 5 to December 17, 1981. Later, he was elevated to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and served in that capacity from Mar 2, 1982 to December 17, 1987.
