Traditional Meeradabi game held in Mardan

MARDAN: The Lasoona Welfare Organisation in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture Department organised a competition of the traditional game “Meeradabi” under the Regional Cultural Heritage (RICH) project.
The teams of Gurgur and Gulbandi villages played Meeradabi under the watchful eyes of a large number of spectators. Each team had eight players. The Gurgur village won the match.
Union Council member Almas Khan was chief guest on the occasion and gave away the trophy to the captain of the winning team Ahmad Khan while Junaid Khan of Gulbandi team received the runner-up shield. The chief guest said reviving the indigenous art, literature, sports and culture would help people preserve their old traditions.
