Govt bypassed parliament on PIA’s privatisation: Siraj
ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq Saturday asked the government to constitute a parliamentary panel to end its standoff with the PIA employees and maintained that the JI did not believe in doing politics on dead bodies of workers.
He also regretted that the government had opted for privatization of PIA without taking Parliament into confidence observing that was not a democratic attitude.
“Instead of adopting a stubborn attitude the government should opt for negotiations to find a peaceful solution to the crisis,” he said while addressing a press conference here.
Naib Ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam, Central Information Secretary Amirul Azeem and media coordinator Shahid Shamsi were also present.
Siraj opposed the privatization of national flag carrier.
Siraj said organisations like the PIA and its employees should not suffer because of wrongdoings of some individuals who had brought the national flag carrier to the present state of affairs.
“The government should bring culprits to task who played havoc with this organization and improve its management instead of handing it over to the private sector,” he suggested.
