ABBOTTABAD: A woman was killed and 26 others sustained burn injuries in a blast caused by gas leakage in a guesthouse on Mansehra Road early Saturday morning here.
District Police Officer (DPO) of Abbottabad Sher Akbar Khan said that one room of the guesthouse located near the Ayub Teaching Hospital was damaged in the blast. He said the condition of five of the injured was critical and they were admitted to the Burn Unit of the Ayub Teaching Hospital.
The official said that windowpanes of the guesthouse and the surrounding houses were also shattered due to the impact of the gas explosion. The DPO along with the officials of the bomb disposal unit rushed to the spot after the blast and confirmed that it was caused by gas leakage. A handout issued from the Ayub Teaching Hospital said that 21 persons suffered minor burn injuries and they were discharged after receiving first aid. The five injured were identified as Bakht Nisa, Talha, Zeb Nisa, Nawab Zeb and Zeb.
