Rawalpindi
Despite fine weather conditions for last four to five days, the residents of a number of localities, particularly Adiala Road, Munawwar Colony, Defence Road, Dhoke Kalhoor and Mubarak Lane, are facing zero gas pressure round-the-clock.
The localities are not getting gas even on scheduled timings from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
According to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) schedule, consumers of all localities would get full gas pressure from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
SNGPL General Manager (Rawalpindi Circle) Muhammad Zahoor has admitted that people settled in tail-end localities have been facing gas crisis. But, he assured that even people of tail-end localities would also get full gas pressure during scheduled timings. "We are trying to provide full gas pressure to all localities in Rawalpindi," he claimed.
However, the residents of several localities, including Adiala Road, Sher Zaman Colony, Munawwar Colony, Mubarak Lane, Dhoke Juma, New Lalazar, Tahli Mohri, Defence Road and Saleha Street are facing zero gas pressure round-the-clock for two months.
Uzma Zubair, a housewife and resident of Munawwar Colony, rejected the SNGPL claim of providing gas on scheduled timings. "We are using expensive LPG or fire wood for months," she said.
Sadia Pervez, another housewife from Munawar Colony, said that they were paying bills without gas. "I wake up early in the morning to prepare breakfast for my family but there is no gas. We are neither getting gas in the morning nor at night," she said.
Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench Assistant Registrar Khawaja Muhammad Basharat living along Defence Road said that there was no gas even during scheduled timings. He said that they were paying bills but not getting gas. Even though, there is fine weather conditions for four to five days, but the gas crisis is persisting as per routine, he denounced.
