Train affectees receive payments
LAHORE
A large number of affectees of Metro Orange Line Project received payments of their properties from three centres established by City District Government Lahore at Thokar, Jain Mandir and UET on Wednesday.
On the first day, a rush of affectees was seen at all the three centres. Many of the citizens were also seen using shuttle service started on the orders of the DCO to facilitate the affectees to reach the payment centres.
At every centre, officers and employees of Lahore Development Authority, District Administration Revenue, Town Administrations and Bank of Punjab assisted the citizens in completion and submission of required documents.
Moreover, ministers, MNAs and MPAs along with assistant commissioners remained present in their respective centres throughout the day and properly coordinated with affectees if they felt any problem in the process of payment. A proper security arrangement has also been taken to avoid any untoward incident.
Rana Mashhood visited the payment centre established at Thokar Niaz Baig and listened to complaints of the citizens. He directed the LDA authorities to solve citizens’ problems, especially those whose properties were coming on the way of the train project on priority. He personally handed over cheques to various citizens and told them that banks will clear these cheques in a day.
The minister directed the district administration to increase sitting arrangements at the centre while separate counters for older citizens should be established at all the three centres.
Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin visited Jain Mandir centre and supervised the payment activity to the affectees. He assured the citizens that they will get their payment from the bank in a day.
Similarly, Punjab Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman visited the payment centre established at GT Road near UET. He said metro train project will bring a revolution in transport sector. He said the government is doing its best to improve the infrastructure of the provincial capital. DCO Muhammad Usman visited the centres. Talking to the media revealed that the assigned staff of all allied departments had been working hard for speedy disposals of cases. He revealed that a proper liaison had been developed between district administration and State Bank to ensure the same day payments from bank on cheques being issued by the city government.
