Mepco provides defaulters’ list to NAB

MULTAN: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) has provided a list of 1,900 defaulters to the NAB for recovery of Rs 500 million arrears, said Mepco officials.
They said that the defaulters include different government departments. They said that the defaulters had not paid a single penny during the last 12 months.
THREE HELD IN BANK FRAUD CASE: The NAB has arrested three accused in an Islamic banking fraud case.
Talking to The News here, NAB Multan spokesman Ahmad Mumtaz Bajwa said that those arrested were Taha Muhammad Ali, Aslam Pervez and Khalid Mehmood Jaffrey. He said that they had committed a fraud of 160 million.
He said that accused Taha Muhammad Ali with the other accused deprived the accountholders of their amount by transferring the same to a fictitious account when he was a relationship manager in the bank’s Sadr branch. He said that NAB investigator Arslan Haider had conducted a probe during which the allegation proved against the accused.
