PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered de-sealing of currency market comprising 300 shops which was shut by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and local administration for the alleged illegal business of currency.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Roohul Amin Khan issued the interim order for de-sealing the shops in the writ petition filed by general secretary of the dealers association, Shakeel Ahmad Saraf.
During the hearing, the authorities concerned failed to provide notification about sealing of the 300 currency shops on January 14. The representatives of FIA, Deputy Commissioner Office and Police Department expressed ignorance about the issuance of sealing order.
The bench issued notice to FIA director general, Interior Ministry and deputy commissioner of Peshawar to submit proper comments in the case before the next hearing.
