Four acquitted in murder case

BAHAWALPUR: Chishtian Additional District and Sessions Judge Imran Khursheed on Saturday acquitted four accused of murder charges.
Those acquitted are Ms Shabana Kausar, Muhammad Shafiq, Muhammad Ilyas and Muhammad Sufian. They were nominated in the murder case of Rana Mureed Khuda in 2013. During the police investigation, all four accused were proved innocent as Rizwan Kanwal, cousin of the deceased, had confessed to kill Rana Mureed. Later, Rana Akmal, the father of Rana Mureed, had pardoned Rizwan Kanwal.
OFFICE-BEARERS: Office-bearers of the Bahawalpur Union of Journalists (BhUJ) were elected here on Saturday.
The BhUJ general body elected the entire executive body unopposed. Founder member of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) A Majeed Gill was elected once again as the president. Tanveer Hassan and Amin Basit were elected as the vice-presidents while Mazhar Rasheed was elected as the general secretary. The general body meeting also elected 11 delegates who would elect the PFUJ new body. The elected delegates are Imran Bhinder, Akram Nasir, Rasheed Hashmi, Syed Imran Ali Rizvi, Nazir Shaheen of Bahawalnagar, Muhammad Ameen Abbasi, A Majeed Gill, Khawaja Majeed, Mazhar Rasheed, Tanveer Hassan and Amjad Mehmood Awan. PFUJ Vice-President Muhammad Ameen Abbasi supervised the Bahawalpur Union of Journalists election.
