This refers to the letter, ‘Fence for defence’ (January 27) by Kh Taraq Jazy. The writer lauded Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s announcement regarding fencing the border to stop terrorists’ infiltration from Afghanistan. This is merely a ploy from Khawaja Asif to deflect the question from a senator.
In fact, former president Pervez Musharraf had offered to fence the border but this was rejected by the Afghan side, who do not accept the Durand Line and claim our tribal region as theirs. Perhaps by putting pressure on Afghanistan from the other three members of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) can make fencing possible.
